History
Thank you for your interest in the first annual Love Babies tennis tournament!
My name is Cale Balusek, and I was born 10 weeks prematurely, weighing 2.5 pounds. Baylor Scott and White Health kept me alive in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for two months until I was able to survive on my own. I had two holes in my heart, my thyroid didn’t work, I developed chronic lung disease, and I couldn’t eat or get enough oxygen in my blood without the help of the nurses and equipment in the NICU. Baylor Scott and White Health saved my life.
Now, I am a healthy 16-year-old sophomore at Flower Mound High School. I love tennis and play every chance I get. I am on the varsity tennis team at FMHS. I wanted to do something to thank Baylor Scott and White Health for keeping me alive, so a benefit tennis tournament seemed like the perfect idea. Plus, my mom, Tonya Balusek, loves tennis, too, and is willing to help me host the tournament.
Thank you for playing or donating and making the tournament possible! Any money we raise that doesn’t have to go towards running the tournament (insurance, balls, drinks) will go directly to the Baylor Health Care System Foundation which will give the funds to the NICUs at Baylor Scott and White Health - North Texas.
I hope to make Love Babies an annual event. Let’s have an awesome tournament!
